Ballet News | #aphotoadayinmay photographic challenge
Readers, we’re off on an adventure !
#aphotoadayinmay is your chance to showcase your photography skills in a really easy way during May 2012.
What happens is
You take one photograph with your smartphone each day using the completely fabulous Instagram, based on the list in the photograph above, and try to make a ballet connection with each subject you photograph. So, the first challenge is to photograph blossoms on May 1st. I want you to be inventive – you don’t have to take the subject matter literally – and so for blossoms, you might choose to photograph a ballet dancer underneath an apple tree in blossom, or you might think of something really fun and unusual – and so on… You can see from the examples on the left that there are lots of ways to photograph blossom besides the obvious ones, and that’s before you add in the ballet connection.
You post your photograph with the hashtag #aphotoadayinmay and if you want to, the subject, i.e. for the 1st of May, #blossoms, so that they are all grouped together within Instagram.
At the end of May
I’ll go through all the entries and pick my favourites. They will be the ones that catch my attention – it might be through colour, or a fun angle you took on the subject, or something unusual and eye-catching. I’m looking for really outstanding photographs and using your smartphone and the amazing Instagram filters it couldn’t be easier to take stunning images.
I’ll upload the selected photographs here on the website, they will also be pinned onto a newly created Board on the Ballet News Pinterest page (you can click the link below if you’d like to follow the action on Pinterest. Please note that Pinterest is currently invitation-only), and also on the Ballet News facebook page and the photograph with the most ‘likes’ will win.
The winning photograph
Will be published on Ballet News in early June and seen by a worldwide audience.
Please feel free to copy the photograph above with the list of subjects to photograph and share with your friends. I completed a similar challenge during April and it’s easier if you have this photograph on your phone so that you can see what you need to photograph each day while you are out and about (plus you can always check this website).
Let’s see who takes the best photograph in May. It’s over to you …… Take amazing pictures !
