Ballet News Reviews | The Fairytale Princess
This beautiful hardback book takes you into a fairytale world, with Su Blackwell’s paper sculptures made from the pages of old books, bringing Wendy Jones’s retelling of classic stories to life.
There are seven stories : Cinderella, The Frog Prince, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Princess and the Pea, Snow White, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty.
The Twelve Dancing Princesses is the most obviously dance-related of the stories, with the Princesses being locked in their bedroom by the King each night, only for him to find all their that every morning their shoes had been worn to shreds. They just loved to dance!
The stories are each of a perfect length for bedtime reading; succinct and just enough to hold a young person’s interest. The paper sculptures will hold yours! It’s a lovely hardback book in a good size with glossy pages; something to treasure.
