Ballet News Selects… an outfit for the Diamond Jubilee
This weekend the celebrations for HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will really take off – and it’s a long weekend here in the UK. The Thames River Pageant on Sunday 3rd of June promises to be a highlight, and street parties are being organised up and down the land, but whichever celebrations you are attending, the question is the same : What to wear ? Here’s one suggestion to keep you in the patriotic spirit of the occassion!
The foundation is a versatile dress that you can dress up or down with minimum effort, and this ivory lace shift dress from Mint Velvet is a favourite.
It’s £119 and lace continues to be a key element for spring. In a truly flattering and easy shape to wear, this would be gorgeous for a summer wedding as well as the Jubilee celebrations.
It does need a statement shoe, though. These Jasper- red suede Lilly shoes from LK Bennett (currently on sale at £95) are perfectly in keeping with our Jubilee theme.
The new, tall block heel creates a totally new profile and is a great way to ramp up your summer style.
You can always slip a pair of Cocorose London shoes in your bag if your feet begin to tire after a few hours in high heels. The shoes even come with a handy holdall to put your red shoes in!
By topping this outfit off with a statement handbag that is roomy enough to carry everything you’re likely to need for a day out on the Thames or at a street party, you’re set for summer as well as the Jubilee.
Mulberry’s iconic Bayswater bag in Electric Blue comes to the rescue. Okay, it’s not cheap, at £3,500 but it’s an investment and says all the right things, every time. Cost per wear will be fantastic !
