Ballet News Springs a fashion surprise
I have been waiting and waiting for the Spring fashions to start arriving (not to mention, the Spring weather) so that I could share with you some of the fabulous confections that are on their way. If you have tickets to any of the Spring ballets around, or if you need something in your wardrobe ready for warmer days just in case you get whisked off to the ballet at short notice – well, my collection of divine dresses and the one shoe you’ll need all summer are all here!
Lace is big – has been since a certain someone walked down the aisle dressed head to toe in it and walked off with a Prince to boot!
Damsel in a Dress has lace down to a fine art with this stunning PRISCILLA pink dress.
It’s a stunning lace dress with silk detail at the neck and waist. With a slightly A- line shape and side pockets – when do you ever get a smart dress that has pockets ???
The dress also has a flattering V back detail with zip opening and it’s fully lined.
It’s £249.00 and liable to turn heads !
Alice by Temperley has spun two incredible dresses that defy you to leave them behind in the shop!
The first is this Surya Dress.
A classic 1950’s shape, the ALICE by Temperley Surya Dress is cut from a graphic lace inspired by intricate Indian henna tattoos.
The fitted bodice and full skirt make this an easy shape for most shapes to wear while the soft sheen, delicate pastel colour and scalloped lace hem give it an understated elegance.
Just as good dressed up with heels or pared down with a leather jacket and flats. It closes with a centre back zip.
True to size, fitted waist and £445.
The second Alice by Temperley dress is the Mini Surya Dress.
Equally as gorgeous, it has a loosely fitted shift shape, sleeves and frilled hem, the ALICE by Temperley Mini Surya Dress is a perfect throw on piece for both day and evening.
The pretty scallop edged sleeves and hem and soft rose coloured lace add a delicate femininity to this easy to wear dress.
A great summer staple to dress up or play down depending on the occasion. Loose, easy fit. Mini dress length. £395.
And I’m not stopping at lace! If you are a fan of colour and pattern, look no further. There’s more than one way to make an entrance.
New fashion label Three Floor Fashion have been making a name for themselves since opening last November, even in difficult financial times for the industry (and everywhere else!).
One of my favourite pieces from their collection is this CROSS MY HEART Midi Dress which seems so versatile you could take it anywhere. It’s £118 and the colours are so good they look edible.
The label has another dress which has caught my eye – a variation on the same theme but again the colour and the style stand out from the crowd -as will you!
This time, it’s the Sugar High Dress (great name – who doesn’t need a sugar rush at some point in the day ?) and it’s £88.
I guess the question is – how many pairs of shoes are you going to need with all these dresses ? The good news is that if you’re on a budget, there is only one pair you need this summer.
LK Bennett know a thing or two about what makes a great shoe, and they have a hit on their hands with this one – in salmon pink and called the Becca shoe.
This pointed-toe kitten heel is embellished with a very feminine bow detail. Based on the shape of our popular Bury shoe, the pointed toe is sculptural, slightly elongated and balanced.
The 55mm high heel is placed in the centre of the natural heel for maximised comfort – perfect to wear from Desk to Dinner. Available in Red, Latte, Black, Rose and Salmon Gloss. It’s £175 (or you could wait for the sale if you dare!)
I adore this Leaf dress by Damsel in a Dress. It’s £179 and a signature silk print dress with pleat panel and belt. Fully lined in soft jersey with zip opening.
The prettiest of dresses to take you anywhere – surely ?
Another of their dresses to catch my eye with it’s gorgeous summer print is this one, in a water-colour inspired print. It’s £189. The loveliest of dresses made in 100% silk in Damsel in a Dress’s bespoke water colour print. This dress has a cross over front detail and tie waist. Fully lined in soft jersey.
And finally…. it’s Mother’s Day this weekend so if you want to buy the perfect gift…. these dresses and the LK Bennett shoes could be just the ticket ! If you prefer flowers, don’t forget Bloomsbury Flowers (for flowers with attitude) run by two ex-Royal Ballet dancers.
