THE WASHINGTON BALLET NAMES JOANN LABRECQUE-FRENCH SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

Washington, DC – The Washington Ballet (TWB) is pleased to announce that JoAnn LaBrecque-French has been named the Ballet’s Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. Ms. LaBrecque-French, who previously served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Washington National Opera, joined TWB on January 24, 2011.

“I am honored and delighted to accept this position with The Washington Ballet,” said Ms. LaBrecque-French. “I feel fortunate to be working under the leadership of Septime Webre and Russell Allen and with the talented staff and dancers of the Ballet. I look forward to using my marketing and communications expertise and knowledge to assist the company in achieving its mission by supporting the Company’s professional performances and reaching out to the many and varied communities in the Washington, DC metro area.”

“The Washington Ballet has moved its marketing and communications efforts another step forward with Ms. LaBrecque-French joining our staff,” said TWB Executive Director Russell P. Allen. “We are grateful to have her level of expertise and experience available to us as part of our senior management team.”

In addition to her time at WNO, Ms. LaBrecque-French’s extensive background in performing arts includes working as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Houston Grand Opera; Public Relations Manager of Los Angeles Opera; and as an Account Executive with Davidson & Choy Publicity, one of Los Angeles’ premier arts and entertainment firms.

Her expertise encompasses traditional and nontraditional marketing, communications, and advertising with an emphasis in branding, project management, media and community partnerships, website development, and incorporating traditional, electronic and social media and community outreach into comprehensive and multidimensional external institutional campaigns.   Ms. LaBrecque-French’s consulting client list includes Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Joffrey Ballet, CalArts, and Los Angeles Master Chorale. 

Ms. LaBrecque-French presents extensively at national performing arts conferences on a variety of topics, including crisis communications, website development, electronic marketing, branding, and integrated marketing and fundraising.  Awards include a regional Emmy-Award and two American Marketing Association Crystal Awards.  Ms. LaBrecque-French did her undergraduate work at Ball State University and the University of Houston and has extensive professional development through the University of Houston, Rice University and the American Marketing Association.
