Often, the only shoe that really finishes off an outfit is a statement heel, and you know that that heel is pretty likely to make it’s mark on your feet as the day wears into evening. What to do ?  Well, if you’re savvy, you’ll have something Cocorose-shaped up your sleeve. Here’s why.

Last month Cocorose London, makers of foldable ballet pumps, announced a licensing partnership with The Royal Ballet, and having been sent a pair to road-test, I was keen to see whether they’d live up to the hype. In the press release accompanying the shoes, Janan Leo, Founder and Creative Director of Cocorose London said, “this is such an incredible opportunity. I am honoured to be associated with such an iconic, world-class, British artistic company. As a huge admirer of The Royal Ballet, it’s a dream  for me to be invited to design a Fashion Collection of our foldable ballet pumps exclusively for them.”

What’s so special about these foldable ballet pumps ?

The press release continues, “Cocorose London’s stylish and uber-comfortable, signature foldable ballet pumps are designed for modern and contemporary women and incorporate elements of functionality, convenience and design aesthetics. Each pair of shoes are presented in Cocorose London’s luxury travel purse, with an accompanying, black satin shoulder bag folded into its back pocket so women can change out of their skyscraper heels or trainers and “Cocorose It” anytime, anyplace, anywhere!”

The shoes, called Aurora arrived in a smart black box (with handles) with The Royal Ballet logo embossed on the side in silver lettering.

Pulling the inviting tab at the top reveals an inner black box, and this reveals the zipped clutch, again embossed with The Royal Ballet logo.

The buttery-soft, satin lined clutch in powder pink with black lining feels luxurious. Upon opening, a sandwich of shoes appear, which I quickly unwrap to reveal the Cocorose Aurora Nude Pink and Black pumps with a Grosgrain Diamante Bow. I like the subtle colours (I don’t know about you but I’m not planning on co-ordinating every outfit with two pairs of shoes!) and the quality of workmanship.

I’ve worn other foldable ballet pumps but Cocorose London has really thought about how their customers will use their shoes.  Nestled in the back of the clutch, and linked to it, is a black satin holdall with shoulder straps that you can use to conveniently store your heels.

The shoes themselves are soft, thick leather with a lovely smooth lining, which is important as some of the foldable-type shoes have a tendency to pinch. The soles don’t slip – I’ve often been caught out wearing leather soles on a wet evening and gone a cropper! After a few hours in heels, I felt as though I’d dipped my feet into a lovely warm bath and I didn’t want to take them out!  But, they are stylish enough that I didn’t feel I’d traded in my statement heels for comfy slippers – and neither did anyone else!

The shoes are well presented, brilliantly comfortable and Cocorose London has thought of everything, including what to do with your heels (who wants to sling a pair of road-weary heels in their bag – not me!) Having a holdall means you can keep everything together and still keep them protected.
