After scouting the country for five new talented performers to join the company for the TALENT 2013, BalletBoyz® are pleased to announce the company line-up:
Taylor Benjamin, Andrea Carrucciu, Flavien Esmieu, Adam Kirkham, Alexander Loxton, Jordan Olpherts, Edward Pearce, Leon Poulton, Matthew Rees and Matthew Sandiford.
BalletBoyz® are moving to new premises in Kingston upon Thames in November. Although they will be leaving their current home at Sadler’s Wells where they’ve been based since 2005, the company will retain their Associate Artist status with the Wells.
“After seven years of leading a somewhat nomadic existence when it comes to rehearsing and having a physical base for the company,” comments Michael Nunn, co-founder of BalletBoyz® with William Trevitt, “our new home in Kingston upon Thames will mean that, for the first time in the company’s 12 year history, we will have a permanent studio facility available to us 365 days a year.”
The BalletBoyz® found the premises by chance: “We were walking down the street, saw this fantastic old building, realised it was empty and looked through the window,” says Billy. “We realised that with a lick of paint and a bit of renovation – OK, a lot of renovation! – it would make a fantastic permanent home for BalletBoyz®. We’re thrilled and can’t wait to move in!’
BalletBoyz® new home will consist of two studios – a main one for the company and a smaller space for additional rehearsal/creative projects as well as outside hires – offices for company management and editing facilities.
BalletBoyz®, co-founded and driven by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt (left) to massive success and acclaim, is coming of age and going global. From its thrilling debut in 2000, the company has broken just about every barrier known to the dance world winning widespread public and critical acclaim, television and film commissions at home and abroad, prestigious national and international awards and the hearts and minds of thousands of dance fans, performers and audiences alike.
Via their most recent venture, the TALENT, Nunn and Trevitt have shrewdly captured the zeitgeist; giving audiences something new and exciting; giving their company a brand new division with a strong new impetus and giving young male dancers all over the country an unprecedented chance to be part of a remarkable dance company and an ever developing entity.
