What motivates you at 8am on a Monday morning ?

On first thought I would say breakfast. On second thought I would say, the upcoming projects I’m working on.

Why ballet ?

Sometimes I ask myself the same question. Because, that’s what I like to do. I like to dance with my feet open.

If you could dance anywhere in the world (not only in a theatre), where would you dance ?

I would like to dance all over the world and I think it would be magical to dance on an open-air stage located on the historical site of Machu Picchu.

What is your daily routine at the moment ?

Every morning class training followed by rehearsals/performances. As for the rest of the day, I meet my friends and enjoy life.

What do you eat during the course of a typical working day ?

I burn a lot of calories during the class training and rehearsals so I need to compensate with good healthy food. I’m trying to find a balance between meat, vegetables, sweets etc. and mix them according to my appetite. I also drink a lot of water.

How do you prepare in the hours before a show ?

I’m trying to concentrate my energy on the upcoming show, eat just enough not to feel heavy and warm up my body before the performance.

What are you looking forward to dancing in 2011/12 ?

Everything the repertoire of the company I’m dancing with has to offer.

How do you deal with the stresses of performing ?

For me, there is no stress when I am sure of myself. Stress might come when I am insecure with some steps or musicality but I’m trying to avoid that feeling of being insecure.

You can ask six famous people to dinner – who would you invite ?

Quentin Tarantino, Mos Def, Dave Chappelle, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Robert Plant.

What would surprise people about you ?

They would be surprised with the fact that I can fix just about anything.

Who inspired you to dance ?

I’ve always had a big connection with music. Dancing is one of the ways I relate to it.

What is your best piece of advice ?

Focus on what is important.

Which role has tested you the most & how ?

Count Albrecht in Giselle. Being my first major role, the pressure was quite high and it took a lot of work and energy to dance it well on stage.

What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you ?

Many funny things happen to me daily.

If you designed your own stage costume, what would you create ?

Definitely something cool and interesting & fashion related.

A phrase I use far too often is …

“What terrible weather.” (Amsterdam , 27 August 2011)

What is your favourite quote?

Everything is relative. (A. Einstein)

What’s on your iPod ?

I love music ! Usually depends on the mood; Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, The Knife, Radiohead, Groove Armada, Pablo Bolivar, Led Zeppelin, Chopin, Black Coffee, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Mos Def, Royksopp, Saint Germain, Mozart and many, many others.

Who would you most like to dance for, and why?

I don’t have any special wishes in that way. I dance for the all people who come and see the performance.

What makes you a good dance partner ?

I don’t think it’s me who should be answering this question.

Do you have a secret skill which no one knows about ?

I teleport from time to time !

Describe yourself in just three words.

Cautious, romantic, funny.

If you could dance in front of anyone, who would it be and what makes them special to you?

I would say my family. They don’t get to see me very often, especially on stage.

In terms of your ballet career, where would you like to be this time next year ?

I hope I will be exactly where I am supposed to be.
