Dutch National Ballet | CINDERELLA IN CINEMAS ACROSS THE UK & AUSTRALIA FROM 28 APRIL
* An original 21st century version of the classic fairy story ballet by Christopher Wheeldon
The Dutch National Ballet’sbrand-new Cinderella ballet, choreographed by the internationally acclaimed Christopher Wheeldon, will be screened in cinemas from 28 April 2013.
Premiered at the Amsterdam Music Theatre in December 2012 this will be the first time the ballet has been seen outside the Netherlands, and it will be showcased on the big screen in dazzling high definition with 5.1 surround sound.
A total of 32 cinemas across the United Kingdom, Australia and Hungary will screen Cinderella.
Influenced by the Brothers Grimm story of Cinderella, Wheeldon has created an enchanting ballet set to Prokofiev’s magnificent score with stunning sets and costumes by British designer, Julian Crouch. The superb cast includes Anna Tsygankova and Matthew Golding, the perfect pairing for this original 21st century take on the classic fairy story ballet.
Cinderella is a co-production between the Dutch National Ballet and the San Francisco Ballet.
The live recording Cinderella of is produced and directed by 3 Minutes West. The Dutch National Ballet has previously collaborated with the Amsterdam production company on recordings of the Hans van Manen Festival, Giselle, Don Quichotte, the 50th anniversary Gala and Nutcracker & Mouseking. The international distributor is the London-based organisation More2Screen, which distributes opera and ballet productions, concerts, theatre and special events to cinemas all over the world.
