English National Ballet @ Buckingham Palace
On Friday night English National Ballet performed Tempus, a newly commissioned piece by George Williamson for the Coronation Festival Gala, held in the Gardens of Buckingham Palace. The Festival was arranged by the Royal Warrant Holders; companies who have supplied the Queen, her husband or her eldest son for at least five years.
Dancing in costumes designed by Julien Macdonald OBE, who approached English National Ballet, has injected some sparkling glamour into the ballet as these sketches show.
At Friday’s Royal Preview for invited guests only, Tamara Rojo, English National Ballet’s Artistic Director, danced alongside Esteban Berlanga, Daria Klimentová, Vadim Muntagirov, Fernanda Oliveira, Zhanat Atymtayev, Bridgett Zehr, Ken Saruhashi, Ksenia Ovsyanick and Junor Souza.
Part of the evening’s activities was a catwalk show, which might not have been what you’d expect….
Stay tuned for further coverage of the Festival, which is open now.
