Sweaty Betty collaborate with the English National Ballet
For the second year running, the chic, performance-driven activewear of Sweaty Betty launches their new SS14 collection featuring a collaborative dance range with the prestigious English National Ballet.
Inspired by traditional ballet with a contemporary urban edge, each piece in the Dance Statement line presents the perfect combination of performance and style. The innovative fabrics and fashion-forward designs ensure each piece allows for movement and flexibility, supporting the body from plies to split leaps. Soft summer pastels and hues of grey make up the colour palette, in a collection that includes soft cotton pants, seamless camis, loose knitted jumpers and figure-hugging leotards, to carry the urban dancer from pre-rehearsal to cool-down.
As with every Sweaty Betty collection, the Dance Statement line was trialled ahead of its release. Four dancers from ENB wore, worked out and danced to excess in each and every piece from the range, providing feedback on the positive design aspects and those that could be improved upon. The product team took their comments seriously; adapting and altering different features across the range to ensure each piece offered the utmost in functionality, as well as style.
A highlight of the Dance Statement range and a personal favourite of Sweaty Betty founder Tamara is the Stage Door tee; a soft scoop-neck top featuring an image from the ENB archive. Perfectly encapsulating the tension and grace of a prima ballerina, the image depicts a dancer just before she leaps onstage.
