Here is the press release :

English National Ballet is delighted to announce that the winner of this year’s Emerging Dancer Award, sponsored by Talbot Hughes McKillop, is 22 year old Yonah Acosta. Yonah also won The People’s Choice Award.

Yonah performed two riveting and acrobatic solos, from Don Quixote and Diana and Acteon, to a packed audience at the South Bank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. In a double celebration for the young dancer, Yonah was also awarded The People’s Choice Award, which was voted for by members of the public across the UK and in London based on the dancers’ performances during English National Ballet’s Autumn Tour of Strictly Gershwin and Christmas season at the London Coliseum.

Yonah named his Uncle Carlos Acosta as one of his great inspirations, and thanked the audience for their support.

Judges Wayne Eagling, Clement Crisp, Arlene Philips, David Wall and Wendy Martin all expressed their delight at the talent within English National Ballet, and how fantastic all the nominees performances were. This is the third year of the Emerging Dancer Award, which is sponsored by Talbot Hughes McKillop, the restructuring experts.

Yonah Acosta can be seen performing in Beyond Ballets Russes at the London Coliseum from 22 March – 1 April. Beyond Ballets Russes celebrates the legacy of Diaghilev’s famous company, with a series of works new and old, including the critically acclaimed Suite en blanc, and a new Firebird by British choreographer George Williamson.
