National Ballet of Canada | The Seagull Tours to Ottawa’s National Arts Centre
Photography Exhibition by Aleksandar Antonijevic on Display
The National Ballet of Canada tours to the National Arts Centre (NAC) in Ottawa, April 12 – 14, 2012 with John Neumeier’s acclaimed adaptation of The Seagull.
The Seagull explores the nature of love and the relationship between love and art. Based on Chekhov’s brilliant play, the key characters are changed from actors and writers to dancers and choreographers in this richly-imagined, compelling work.
Ballet Photography Exhibition
A special photography exhibition titled FEET AND MIRRORS by Principal Dancer Aleksandar Antonijevic will be on display in the NAC’s Southam Hall lobby, April 11 – 29, 2012. Mr. Antonijevic’s photography has been featured at CONTACT, Toronto’s annual international photography festival, as well as in two exhibitions. He also photographed the Principal Dancers for the National Ballet’s 2011/12 Souvenir Book.
NAC Dance and the National Ballet partner together to bring the School Residency Project to two local high schools in Ottawa. Annemarie Cabri, Artist Educator with YOU dance, will lead in-school workshops over three days, followed by a combined workshop at the NAC, backstage tours, a discussion with local dance historian Kathryn Jones, and a performance of The Seagull.
