Queensland Dance School of Excellence (QDSE) student, Indya Gardner, has just been awarded with the title of 2012 Dux of Kelvin Grove State College.  Indya, a Newmarket resident, is the third student in QDSE’s 31 year history to realise this accolade, but the first to also be honoured as the school’s Most Outstanding Dancer of the Year.

Often amongst the highest academic achievers at KGSC, QDSE students balance intensive dance and ballet training with senior academic studies, and this year’s results attest to the efficacy of the demanding program which runs in partnership with Queensland Ballet and Queensland Government’s Department of Education, Training and Employment.

With no time to pause and celebrate her outstanding achievements or even consider going on Schoolies Week, Indya is now focussed on completing her final school exams, as well as attending rehearsals with Queensland Ballet for their Brisbane season of The Sleeping Beauty.  This will be François Klaus’s final production as Artistic Director with the Company and Indya, along with a select group of fellow QDSE students, is delighted to have been invited to perform in this fairy tale ballet.
