Finalists Announced

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) who is staging their flagship annual event, the Genée International Ballet Competition in London, for the first time in over five years announced the 2010 Finalists. The announcement was made live from the Bonnie Bird Theatre, Laban on Friday 19 November, at the end of the two-day Semi-finals event at  which the audience were given a taste of the spectacular Final to come.

Finalists were selected from 71 Semi-finalists from 12 nationalities. Chair of the judging panel, David Nixon delivered the results whilst commending all the candidates on the high calibre of competition.

The Royal Academy of Dance is an international dance teacher education and training organisation with over 13,000 members in 79 countries. The Academy promotes the knowledge, practice and understanding of dance internationally through the education and training of teachers. The Academy is also the largest international ballet examinations board. The RAD is a Registered Charity in England and Wales No. 312826


Semi-finals: David Nixon, Artistic Director Northern Ballet; Christopher Saunders, Ballet Master, The Royal Ballet; Deanne Bergsma, Ex Principal Dancer of The Ballet Ballet.

Final: Dame Antoinette Sibley, DBE; Dame Monica Mason, DBE Artistic Director, The Royal Ballet; David Nixon, Artistic Director Northern Ballet.
