Scottish Ballet launches Port de Bras
In early July, Scottish Ballet launched Core de Ballet, a specialised introduction to core-based ballet exercises. Gyrotonics instructor Kate Menzies took Scottish Ballet dancers Luciana Ravizzi and Luke Ahmet through the 15 minute routine, designed to stretch and tone. The video received over 5000 downloads
Now the company has followed up the success of Core de Ballet with a second routine in their health and fitness series. Called Port De Bras, this routine progresses on from the gentle routine of Core de Ballet and introduces a more complex series of exercises which are aimed at toning the whole body. Menzies again leads the routine, this time with Scottish Ballet dancers Victor Zarallo and Brenda Lee Grech.
A third routine will be launched in the New Year to compliment the first two, which will increase intensity of movement and take inspiration from the regular exercises undertaken by dancers in their daily class.
This series of downloads enables Scottish Ballet’s audiences to try ballet at home, under expert guidance.
