Strictly Come Dancing | Results Week 5
Deborah Meaden is the fourth celebrity to leave the dance floor in Strictly Come Dancing 2013
Last night’s Strictly Come Dancing was full of glamour and glitz as hosts Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly invited the twelve remaining couples to take to the dance floor in a bid to impress judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli & Craig Revel Horwood, and the viewers at home.
This week it was Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden and her partner Robin Windsor, and Casualty’s Patrick Robinson and his partner Anya Garnis in the bottom two, facing the dance-off for the first time to determine who would be the fourth couple voted out of the competition.
The twelve remaining couples danced a Samba, Jive, Foxtrot, Salsa, Quickstep, Waltz, American Smooth, Cha Cha, Paso and Viennese Waltz. The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples facing the dance off.
Both couples then performed their routines again; Deborah and Robin did their Viennese Waltz to ‘It’s a Man’s World’ by James Brown, and Patrick and Anya performed their Salsa to ‘Wings’ by Little Mix.
After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts with Craig, Darcey and Bruno all choosing to save Patrick.
Craig Revel Horwood said: “I would like to save the couple who both did the best dancing in the dance off tonight and that couple is Patrick and Anya.”
Darcey Bussell said: “I just wish both couples weren’t even here, it’s so hard but I’d like to save, having to make this decision, Patrick and Anya”
Bruno Tonioli said: “Let me say you both did a great job but one of you had the edge for me and that was Patrick and Anya.”
With three judges all agreeing to save Patrick, Head Judge Len Goodman added afterwards that he would have also voted the same as his colleagues, saying: “Deborah you did much better in that dance off and my heart goes out to you.”
Looking back at her time on the show and experience of dancing with Robin, Deborah said: “I can’t tell you. Strictly gave me a gift but the big gift that Strictly gave me was this guy. To teach me to dance, to find something I never even knew I could do and to make it the best. He’s wonderful. There’s going to be tears. No, I’m a dragon, there’ll be no tears.”
A tearful Robin added: “I just want to say for Deborah, she loved it so much.”
Sunday’s Results show featured a performance from legendary Earth, Wind & Fire with a medley of old and new classic hits, ‘Let’s Groove Tonight, My Promise and Boogie Wonderland’.
Next week Strictly Come Dancing is on Saturday 2nd November at 6.30pm with the results show on Sunday 3rd November at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
