Tonight’s Strictly results show begins with the Professionals American Smooth, with the ladies in silver and gold long satin dresses.

Len described the live show as “the war on the floor” with so much going on.  Alesha felt that Michelle had almost given up, as she stood in front of the judges and agreed with them as they found fault with her routine.  Craig felt that Ann was “flung about like a toilet brush” and wonders why people find that fun.  Talking about Scott’s routine, Len quips that it was “Scott on!”

The results are in and the first couple safe is Matt & Aliona, followed by Gavin & Katya, Pamela & James, Scott & Natalie, leaving Michelle & Brendan as the first couple in the bottom two.  This is the fourth time, and Bruno says that Michelle tried very hard but the results weren’t right, which the public has seen.

Annie Lennox sings her new single, Universal Child, surrounded by candles which cover the floor.  There is no room for dancers, and Annie sings alone, just as Robbie and Gary did a few weeks ago.  Isn’t this a dance show ?

Claudia talks to the celebrities who are safe this week, and Matt says they are all looking forward to getting to Blackpool.  Scott says that they are all gaining in confidence as they learn the routines faster and can spend time polishing the dance.

The next couple safe is Patsy & Robin – Patsy is squealing with delight !  Also back next week are Kara & Artem & Ann & Anton, which leaves Felicity & Vincent in the bottom two with Michelle & Brendan.

Claudia introduces Alesha Dixon, singing, this time accompanied by six Strictly Pro dancers.  Alesha is donating all the profits from Radio to Children in Need.

Claudia talks to Michelle and Felicity, who both say they have enjoyed the show and of course, don’t want it to end.

The Soldiers sing, accompanied by Flavia & Vincent. to a backdrop of falling red poppies.  A mark of respect on Remembrance Sunday.

And so, the moment of truth arrives.  It’s Michelle who has been voted out.  She says that at least now she doesn’t have to worry about being in the bottom two any more !

BBC Press ReleaseMichelle Williams Paso’s out of Strictly Come Dancing

In tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing results show Michelle Williams was voted off, becoming the sixth celebrity to leave the competition.

The judges’ scores left Ann and Michelle at the bottom of the leaderboard but the combination of the judges’ scores and viewer votes meant Michelle Williams and Felicity Kendal were in the bottom two with Michelle and partner Brendan Cole being eliminated.

Of Michelle and Brendan’s dance, the judges were divided and said:

Bruno Tonioli: “You know what I’m going to say. You know it. You started with a suitable aggression – “Yeah! I hate that dress get it off me”. It was the right energy but you lost it so many times and once you lost it in the Paso Doble but you need the aggression. But the arms – all the lines were not flowing all the way through. You lost balance – it’s true. You have to link it – you can’t just throw it.

Craig Revel Horwood: “It was all very gnarled. Knotty, Nodulistic. In fact. I think what you’re confusing is attack in the dance with pounding and pulverising the floor. You don’t have to hit the floor as hard as you’re doing for those appels – you’re also not bringing you feet together on the appels. Ever. It’s very stiff and aggressive Spanish lines.

Alesha Dixon: “I liked the routine especially the beginning – you had such determination in your face. I think you managed to keep the character of the dance throughout and your overall shaping was really good. You did lose balance occasionally but I really liked it, Michelle. Well done.

Len Goodman: “I didn’t think it was nodulistic… What I would say is, it started off really well. It started off with the correct aggression – the same aggression you were showing in the practise room – but then as it got on a bit it sort of got a bit filleted and soft. It lacked sort of any firmness in it. But… first half good, second half not so good.

After their elimination, Michelle said “I’m sad about going, but you know, at least I don’t have to worry about being on the bottom two again! The best thing has been making friends and dancing with the most amazing dancer, Brendan”.

The celebrities who also competed this week and escaped elimination were: Kara Tointon, Gavin Henson, Matt Baker, Patsy Kensit, Felicity Kendal, Ann Widdecombe, Scott Maslen and Pamela Stephenson.

All remaining couples will be dancing next week in Blackpool to either a Ballroom or Latin dance that they haven’t yet performed
