It’s a wrap for Jerry Hall as she Quicksteps out of the Strictly Come Dancing spotlight.
Lights, camera, action! It was popcorn and sequins this weekend as Strictly hit Hollywood for a host of silver screen sensations! Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly rolled out the red carpet, and the thirteen remaining couples gave Oscar-worthy performances in a bid to remain in the competition.
Putting on their Top Hat and strutting their twinkle-toes, all the remaining couples dazzled on the dancefloor hoping to impress the viewers at home, as well as judges – Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli & Craig Revel Horwood – in the studio.
In Sunday’s results show the judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to reveal that Jerry Hall & Anton Du Beke and Michael Vaughan & Natalie Lowe would be the next two couples to face the dreaded dance-off.
Both couples then performed their routines again; Jerry & Anton did their Quickstep to Mrs Robinson from The Graduate and Michael & Natalie performed their Cha Cha to Hot Stuff from The Full Monty in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.
After both couples had danced a second time the judges delivered their verdicts:
Craig chose to save Michael, saying: “For me, this couple improved slightly, and were a little bit better, which was encouraging. The couple I would like to save is Michael and Natalie”
Darcey chose to save Michael, saying: “Both couples have improved so much over the last few weeks. It is so hard to take it on this one performance, because nerves got hold of both of them. I have to save Michael and Natalie”
Bruno chose to save Jerry, saying: “Well I actually thought that both couples were very, very nervous tonight. I thought they actually didn’t improve. There were mistakes, lack of rhythm, timing, and by a whisker I’m going to save Jerry and Anton.”
This gave Head Judge Len the deciding vote, and he chose to save Michael, saying “To be honest, neither couple impressed me. The pressure got to both of them. Jerry’s routine was full of mistakes. Michael’s routine went in and out of time. This is a really difficult, difficult decision for me. This is so close, but I’m going to save Michael and Natalie”
Jerry Hall became the next celebrity to leave the competition.
Reflecting back on the results of tonight’s show, Jerry stated “I’ve had a lot of fun, it’s been great. I’ve loved hanging out with Anton, and dancing with Anton. It’s been lovely”
Sunday’s Results show featured a performance from singing legend Dionne Warwick, singing Always Something There To Remind Me. The cast of Top Hat, featuring Strictly Come Dancing 2008 champion Tom Chambers, appeared with a curtain-raising performance to Top Hat, White Tie and Tails with guest performances from Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag.
Next week Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 27th October at 6.30pm for Strictly’s spooktacular Halloween specialwith the results show on Sunday 28th October at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
