Ballet News | What to wear to the ballet ?

ballet teaSo, you’re excited – you’ve got tickets to a wonderful ballet and a spare afternoon leading up to it – how do you spend it and what do you wear ?

Never fear – Ballet News is here! I’ve trampled the pavements so you don’t have to.

One of the best ever ways of spending an afternoon (even if it’s not followed by a trip to the ballet) is to take afternoon tea.  It doesn’t matter whether you’reballet flowers at the glamorous, old-fashioned charming Ritz or in your flower-strewn and slightly wind-blown back garden; the enduring age old ritual that is afternoon tea is guaranteed to set you in the right mood, whatever you are doing, and especially for an evening of fabulous ballet.

Snazzle up your favourite mis-matched vintage tea-cups and bring out your finest macarons and assorted home-baked treats! You did bake them yourself, didn’t you ?

Perhaps you are celebrating ? A birthday or anniversary ? Tea lights and candles, then.

And for your outfit that is going to take you from tea-time to the Opera House and home again, possibly tripping the light fantatic as you go ?  I offer you one fabulous dazzle of a dress and an array of accessories as you sit back, relax, and sip your Earl Grey :

First, you’ll need a show-stopper of a dress, but one that doesn’t holler from the street; let it speak in layers and unravel it’s secrets slowly over the course of the evening! Ted Baker Fashion has this pretty layered dress in ballerina shades which is understated and elegant, at £150.

Tiffany & Co is synonymous with the glamour and chic of Audrey Hepburn and this rose gold bracelet will look poised & polished on your arm. The Tiffany Locks Bangle comes in at £2950, but those ballet tickets were a gift, right ?ballet bracelet

Tiffany’s Locks Bangle in 18k rose gold with round brilliant diamonds, is engraved with the Tiffany logo. Medium size fits wrists up to 6.25″ in circumference. Dazzled!

To keep those tickets safe, fling a Mulberry Mini Alexa over your shoulder and you are good to go ! This one is Conker soft buffalo at £525 and will see you through endless fun this season and beyond.

ballet bag

I totally recommend that you clean and waterproof your Mulberry treat, and these are the very best products I’ve found. It doesn’t take a jiffy to waterproof your new bag (I prefer to do it outside on a still, dry day and then hang my handbag in it’s own soft cotton bag on the washing line for a few hours) and then it’s just a monthly check for any marks and if necessary go over with the cleaner before a quick blast of the waterstop spray. With the contents of your bag laid bare (you should empty the bag before cleaning), it’s a great time to throw out last month’s old boiled sweets before they stick to the bottom of the bag and make sure you’re only carrying around the stuff you really need!  If you regularly look after your bag in this way, the cost per wear will reduce all the time, as it’s likely to last you a very long time and still look as fabulous as you!
