This year the ballet will be the culmination of a whole host of magical festivities; The Nutcracker Design Project invites budding artists to showcase their creativity by submitting art inspired by the ballet. As Christmas approaches, the families are invited to Make a Christmas Wish, meet the dancers at an Autograph Session, and enjoy a unique tribute to the ballet at The Nutcracker Exhibition. Exclusive souvenirs will be on sale at the venue so that the audience can take home a little piece of the Christmas magic. The Hong Kong Ballet will also offer a wealth of activities to help the audience Get to know The Nutcracker, such as pre-performance talk and educational workshop. And finally, in recognition of the unique legacy of The Nutcracker, Stephen Jefferies will join a gala ceremony on Opening Night.

The ballet’s main character is a young girl named Clara. Join her at a Christmas Eve party, as she receives a nutcracker puppet as a gift from Herr Drosselmeyer. Later that night Clara sneaks back downstairs to the drawing room, only to find herself in a dream-like scene where the family’s Christmas tree grows to an enormous height, and Herr Drosselmeyer’s nephew is transformed into the Nutcracker prince! Hand in hand, Clara and her Prince embark on an enchanted journey through a weird and wonderful world of yuletide dreams where they meet the King Rat, the Sugarplum Fairy, the Snowflakes and a whole host of other fantastical characters.

With live accompaniment by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, this performance is the perfect family treat for the holidays. This show sells fast every year, so reserve your seats now. Tickets are available at all URBTIX outlets and via the URBTIX website. For more details, please visit Hong Kong Ballet’s website.
