The National Ballet of Canada | Romeo and Juliet – Perfect Escape for March Break

Principal Casting Announced

February 26, 2013… The National Ballet of Canada’s celebrated production of Romeo and Juliet by internationally acclaimed choreographer Alexei Ratmansky returns for the March Break, March 12 – 17, 2013 in Toronto at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

Performing the title roles are Principal Dancer Guillaume Côté and First Soloist Elena Lobsanova, First Soloist McGee Maddox and Principal Dancer Heather Ogden, Principal Dancers Aleksandar Antonijevic and Greta Hodgkinson, Principal Dancer Sonia Rodriguez and Second Soloist Naoya Ebe and Corps de Ballet member Brendan Saye and Second Soloist Chelsy Meiss.

Romeo and Juliet was created in 2011 to celebrate the National Ballet’s 60th anniversary season.

Romeo and Juliet features Prokofiev’s dramatic score, stunning costumes and sets by award-winning designer Richard Hudson, best known for his design for The Lion King, and lighting by internationally renowned designer Jennifer Tipton.

Following the Toronto engagement, the National Ballet will tour the acclaimed production to Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, England, April 17 – 21, 2013.

The National Ballet’s popular and free Ballet Talks will be moved to the R. Fraser Elliot Auditorium at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. The new location will accommodate a greater number of patrons and will begin one hour before the performance. Seating, on the orchestra level only, will be on a first come, first served basis. The Ballet Talks for Romeo and Juliet will be led by ballet notator Natasha Frid.
