The National Ballet of Canada’s greatest patron Walter Carsen, O.C. turns 100 on August 14, 2012.
Mr. Carsen will celebrate this momentous occasion at a private event at The Walter Carsen Centre for The National Ballet of Canada organized by his son, opera director Robert Carsen, O.C., and daughter, Johanni Carsen. The National Ballet Artistic Director Karen Kain, Executive Director Kevin Garland and Principal Dancers will join Mr. Carsen and his family and friends at the event to pay tribute to this great milestone.
One of the National Ballet’s most loyal champions and advocates Mr. Carsen’s generosity is unparalleled in the company’s history. He has underwritten 12 new productions over the past 20 years and contributed to many important milestones including the lead gift in the company’s capital campaign to build its current home named in his honour, The Walter Carsen Centre for The National Ballet of Canada.
