The National Ballet of Canada’s 60th Anniversary Celebrated at NFB Mediatheque

Dance on Film and Archival Display
February 21  – 29, 2012

February 17, 2012… To celebrate The National Ballet of Canada’s 60th anniversary season the NFB Mediatheque will present a week-long series of dance on film, February 21 – 29, 2012. The series will launch with Celia Franca: Tour de Force by Veronica Tennant, who will speak following the screening, and feature several other NFB productions. Other guest speakers during the series include authors James Neufeld and Carol Bishop-Gwyn. An archival display highlighting the past 60 years of the National Ballet and an interactive station where visitors can watch a dance and film playlist will also be onsite.

From February 21 through February 29, discover the rich past of The National Ballet of Canada with an archival display exploring its history, traditions and triumphs in the NFB Mediatheque’s Interactive Lounge.

The National Ballet’s Winter Season opens with Sir Frederick Ashton’s enduring La Fille mal gardée, February 29 – March 4, 2012 and continues with Rudolf Nureyev‘s beloved classic The Sleeping Beauty, March 10 – 18, 2012. The season concludes with John Neumeier’s moving contemporary adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s great play The Seagull, March 22 – 25, 2012.
