National Ballet of Canada logoThe National Ballet of Canada’s Outreach Programme YOU dances Goes to Thunder Bay and Parry Sound 

March 25, 2011… The National Ballet of Canada’s successful outreach programme YOU dance visits Thunder Bay on March 28 – 31, 2011 and Parry Sound at the Festival of Sound’s Music Scores programme from April 11 – April 14, 2011. YOU dance is the National Ballet’s highly successful outreach programme that introduces students in grades four to six the world of dance through free workshops and performances.

Thunder Bay – March 28 31, 2011

Schools in the Thunder Bay area will participate in specially designed movement workshops in their schools and then come to a one hour moderated performance at St. Patrick Auditorium March 28 – 31, 2011.

In addition, Artistic Director of YOU dance Lindsay Fischer will lead one free Master Class for dancers at elementary/intermediate level and over the age of 14 on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 6:30 pm at the International dance Academy.

YOU dance will also perform for the general public at St. Patrick School Auditorium on Wednesday March 30, 2011 at 7:00 pm. The Apprentices from the company will perform a programme of classical and contemporary works, including excerpts from Giselle, Don Quixote and The Dream. Grade four students from St. Paul School will perform a work they have created with Artist Educator Annemarie Cabri.

Donations to the drama program at St. Patrick School will be gratefully accepted.

Parry Sound – April 11 14, 2011

Schools in the Parry Sound area will participate in specially designed movement workshops in their schools and then come to a one hour moderated performance at the Charles W. Stockey Centre for Performing Arts April 11 – 14, 2011.

In addition, Artistic Director of YOU dance Lindsay Fischer will lead two free Master Classes for dancers aged 10 years and older with at least three years of formal ballet training and age 14 years and older with at least five years of formal ballet training on April 11 at 5:45 pm and 7:00 pm at the Charles W. Stockey Centre for Performing Arts.

YOU dance will also perform for the general public at the Charles W. Stockey Centre on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at 7:00 pm. The Apprentices from the company will perform a programme of classical and contemporary works, including excerpts from Giselle, Don Quixote and The Dream. Grade seven and eight students from William Beatty Public School will perform a work they have created with Artist Educator Annemarie Cabri.
