Ballet

I wanted to tell you about a new release of The Nutcracker, by The Royal Ballet

I know – you might be groaning already – who needs another Nutcracker, right ?

Well, with the wonderful (and now retired) Miyako Yoshida, partnered by the equally wonderful Steven McRae, and also starring Ricardo Cervera & Gary Avis – who is the BEST Drosselmeyer – how could you resist.  More importantly, why would you resist ?

Miyako Yoshida IS the Sugar Plum!! It was watching her dance it with Jonny Cope that got me hooked on ballet in the first place – so another version won’t go amiss as far as I’m concerned!

Another Nutcracker to add to my collection! They are such fascinating testimonies to the aesthetic of the ballet companies that produce them. Can’t be too many for me!

Couture Carrie – thankyou. Lovely to see you here.

Jude – The Nutcracker is really a marmite ballet – you either love it and see it over and over, or, not…

    Cloudia – thank you !

    DaveM – I guess that’s why they released it….

Stasia Kehoe – good to hear – how many do you own now ??
